Hi all, Mike Taylor will be leading your ride this week. He’s picked an old YOGi favourite as a route, heading around the Cornish coast. Usual Start point, B&Q car park, Plympton at 09:00. Alternately you can have a bit of a lay in and meet at the Torpoint ferry from roughly 09:35 onwards. “First time as a leader for me (but don’t let that put you off!!) and as I’ve not got many miles in my legs over the past couple of months will pick a nice ‘n easy route. Saturday 16 Road Ride – 25th October

Thanks to Adrian Longman for leading the 16 ride this week, and it looks like a good one…. As it appears we have  a favourable forecast I thought we might get some decent miles in before the winter bikes come out. Its a long and lumpy route but one of my favourites and takes us into Exeter with a cafe stop at Haldon Forest at the top of the Mamhead climb. There are plenty of options for cutting the ride short for anyone not wishing to complete the whole route and pace will be steady. See you at the start. Cheers, Adrian Full route … Read more…

OK winter is here and the clocks go back later, so a nice easy, flattish route out to spot some steam trains at the Railway café in Buckfastleigh. Route will be out through Plympton but heading out to Cornwood before going around the back of Ivybridge.  Straight up past Wrangton and through South Brent before picking up the fast road from Marley Cross down to Dartington, a sharp left in Dartington and then the main road across to Buckfastleigh for our café stop at the Railway Café. Route back is the well trodden path back to South Brent, through Wrangtan … Read more…

It’s my turn to lead this week’s Leisure Ride. As I always use the same route, I thought it would make a change if I used a different one this week. So, this week, we’ll be riding a variation of the Wrangaton/Erme Valley route: Meet at B&Q at 09:00 and then exit Plymouth via the Ridgeway, Deep Lane, Lee Mill and the cycle path to Ivybridge. Here we’ll cross the A38 and head toward Ermington but take the left turn to Penquit. From Penquit we’ll cross the Erme valley and ride up the hill to take the Ridge Road to … Read more…

YOGis Help Young Beaver Scouts to Achieve Cycling Badge
avatar

Hi all, On Friday evening a great time was had helping the 19th (Emmanuel) Plymouth Beaver Scouts earn their Cycling Activity Badge. There were over twenty Beavers (aged between 6 and 8), all very keen to learn from a few wise old YOGis who volunteered to help. The evening involved: Learning about the importance of cycle safety equipment How to pump up a tyre A short ride Not even a little rain dampened the troop’s spirits and I’m pleased to say all the Beavers really deserved their badges. Thanks to the YOGis who helped out.
