As the weather looks promising again thought we could go with another longer ride, 80 miles of fun but with plenty of options to cut it short for anyone who needs to head home early… So from B&Q we head up to the George and on to the moors before turning off towards Bere Alston and tackling ouf first big climb of the day out of Denham Bridge.  From here we’ll head across to Gulworthy and straight across to Chillaton and on to Lewdown.  Following the old A30 we finally come to Launceston, but no Pie-stop this time as we head … Read more…

It’s my turn to lead this ride again. After a break the last time that I led, we’ll be riding the Noss Mayo route again:

Starting at B&Q at 09:00 we’ll head out through Plympton to Ivybridge and then turn right towards Ermington. From Ermington we’ll take the Yealmpton road and then turn left onto the Mothecombe and the coast road toward Noss Mayo. Just before Noss Mayo we turn right through Membland and then Bridgend Read more…

Tour of Britain Time 2014 – REGISTER INTEREST

With August marching on and parents looking longingly at the back to school posters in Tesco’s, the thoughts of every Devon cyclist turn to this year’s Tour of Britain stage in the county.  This year the route takes the peloton from Exmouth to Exeter, not as you might think on a short and blisteringly fast time trial but over 114 miles of beautiful Devon countryside.  While the pro’s will ride this on Thursday the 11th September (and no doubt we’ll organise a club ride out to watch), why not pit yourself against them and ride the route on an organised club ride on 13th … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 16th August

Hi all, I’ve not got a clue what the weather’s been like here for the past few weeks as I’ve been on holiday working on my tan for this Saturday’s ride. I have every faith that it will be sunny and warm, so it has to be Cornwall I think :  ) Usual start at B&Q car park, Plympton at 09:00, we will then head to the Tamar Bridge (a chance for late raisers to meet here for 09:45). Its Pillaton and Hatt before St Germans and on to the Polbathic junction before the climb to the coast. The return … Read more…

Thanks to David Palmer for volunteering to lead this week’s 12 Ride.

Dave’s route is as follows:

Meet at B&Q for 09:00 then head towards Yelverton (where I assume there will be an opportunity for those who want to head straight there to meet) then it’s on through Walkhampton, Horrabridge, Plasterdown and Moorshop to the climbs of Pork and Merrivale. The café  stop will be at the Foxtor Café  at Princetown. Read more…

Hopefully I can tempt a few to join me on this week’s 16 ride.  The weather on Saturday looks pretty promising so what better than a jolly jaunt through the South Hams? From B&Q we’ll head up to Ivybridge and Ermington before going up the valley to Kitterford Cross.  From here we’ll head on to California Cross down to Gara Bridge and the lovely climb out of the valley and up to Morleigh.  After that it’s the fast rolling road around to Dartmouth and out through Strete to Blackpool Sands.  No stopping at the cafe as we’ll press on back … Read more…

Looks like a quiet weekend with many people on holiday or off to ride the Ride London event.  If you would like to volunteer to lead the ride or have a route in mind e-mail ( info@yogicycling.com ) and we’ll post it up.  Otherwise it’s going to be up to everyone to decide a route on the day.

So where do yuh choose to ride that won’t be too much of a shock to the system after we have all become acclimatised to hot, sunny hazy day riding and the met office are predicting heavy showers and a NW wind?  Yep looks like it might be one of those good ole English character building days. I’ve held off posting until now in the hope of a better forecast but as I write it ain’t happening. So with the above criteria we will head out to Totnes. Route is:- Plympton – Ivybridge - Ugborough – Avonwick – Totnes (cafe stop at the Steamer Quay) … Read more…
