Rides Schedule – Week Commencing 14th April

Hi Members and Potential Guests!

Here are the details of this weeks ride schedule, non members are very welcome to try two of our rides, ideally try, ‘like’ and ’join’.  That way the club is suitably insured and we think a fair approach too!

To join please pay the £10.00 membership fee using PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account) and complete the membership application form, accessed via the ‘Home page’.  You will receive a formal welcome and your membership number, usually within one week of paying and completing your application.

If you are visiting the area let us make you welcome and show you some great riding.

We expect all those who join our rides to check out our guide to group riding (see elsewhere on this ‘News Page’) and the ‘Rides Ethos’ at the bottom of this article. Both aim to ensure everyone’s enjoyment and safety! Read more…

MTB – Fun / Social ride – Saturday 19th April

The weather looks good to get up fairly high on the moors above Lydford, so we’ll meet at the Dartmoor Carpark at Lydford @ 10:15am. Please bring some food to eat on the ride as we’ll be out until about 2-3pm approx. Directions: Travelling towards Lydford from Tavistock, you will come down off the moors and when you reach the Dartmoor Inn, Take a small RIGHT turn off the main road up a short lane just after the Dartmoor Inn, and close to the Main turning into Lydford. Saturday 12 Road Ride – 19th April

Hi all, Bill Booth has kindly volunteered to lead this week’s 12 Ride. It must be something to do with the forecast of sun. Bill’s ride is heading into Cornwall as well. From the usual start point – B&Q car park 9:00 am Plympton, we will set off for the Torpoint Ferry. Then it’s St John – Lower Tregantle – Millbrook – Anderton – Cawsand – Crafthole – Seaton – Looe Hill – No Man’s Land – Cafe Stop at Tredinnick Farm Shop. Saturday Leisure Ride – 19th April

This week, Big Al will be heading north from Plymouth and out onto Dartmoor:- The ride will depart B&Q and we will make our way out to the moor via the traffic free Plymbridge Trail, Clearbrook and into Yelverton on the start of the Drake’s Trail. At Yelverton we will follow the main B3212 out through Dousland, a nice climb up Peak Hill, ride across the moor and out to one of the YOGi’s favourite café stops, The Foxtor in sunny Princetown. The café stop comes at around 14.5 miles into the ride, so please make sure you have enough fluid/nibbles to last you. Saturday 14 Road Ride – Easter Saturday

Well as it’s Easter and the weather is looking dry…keep your fingers crossed! as we are going to ride the 100Km route of the St Lukes ‘Moonlit Cycle’ ( for detail click here ) The route will head out to the Rame peninsula via the Torpoint Ferry, we will not leave before 0945 for those who wish to meet us there.  The route heads out past HMS Raleigh before following the well know, St Johns, Kingsand Cawsand loop and up past Freathy, Tregantle and on to Crafthole.  Here we head down to the main road and then on through Hessenford and up to Widegates … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 12th April

Well an hour and a half of OCD std bike washing, shining and lubricating complete, so time to announce this Saturdays route. Mainly on the strength of a forecast for a dry and fairly sunny day seems a good time to head into Looe to mix with the early Easter holiday makers for a coffee and cake. Saturday 12 Road Ride – 12th April

Hi all, From our usual start point – B&Q car park at Plympton 09:00am, we will head out along the cycle track to Yelverton, if you wish to join us here feel free (09:35ish). From Yelverton it’s on towards Princetown and Two Bridges. Just past the Two Bridges we will take a left and continue on to Postbridge. It’s a right turn around the back of Belliver Forest and the 20% descent of Dartmeet. On our return leg we will be stopping at one of the YOGi’s top café stops – the Fox Tor Café at Princetown, before heading home back across the Yelverton downs. Distance 47 miles. Ian Roberts

Saturday 16B Road Ride – 12th April

I’m back from my hols and raring to go! The route is the same one we did a month or so ago and takes us up to Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor. I promise I know the route this time (I think). Saturday Leisure Ride – 12th April

This week we welcome another new leader for the Leisure Ride, Dave Skinner, thank you Dave for coming forward to help out. This week’s route will be a return to the figure of eight we completed a month back, heading out through Plympton to Cornwood before joining the Ivybridge road but staying on it until just before Lee Mill industrial estate where we’ll take a left into Ivybridge.  We’ll head over to Ermington and then head up the valley before crossing the A38 to our café stop at Wrangaton. MTB – Fun / Social Ride – Sat 5th April

This weeks ride Windy has a mini epic planned depending on the weather. Meet at 10am at Roborough Rock, near yelverton by the old airfield. We’ll then drive to the start point, which is planned to be white works cottages near Princetown, but this may change if weather conditions are very poor. Please bring some lunch/snack and expect a day ride.

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 5th April

This week’s ride will see us head up onto Dartmoor. The route is as follows: B&Q – Plympton – Ivybridge – South Brent – Buckfast. From here, we will cut the corner and go up Holne (the easier way) and onto Dartmoor. We will then make our way across to Princetown. Approx: 53 miles Exact route will be posted later. Let’s hope the weather brightens up for the weekend.

Saturday 12 Road Ride – 5th April

The ride this Saturday is into Cornwall via the Tamar Bridge. Meet as usual 9am B&Q. We will ride to Derriford via Leigham then through Southway and Whitleigh to St Budeaux and the bridge. Can meet 940 am at Bridge.  Normal route through Saltash to Hatt then Pillaton, Blunts and Tideford. From Tideford we will head towards Whitsands via Polbathick and Portwrinkle. Cafe stop at Freathy then return to the ferry at Torpoint and back to B&Q via Millbay, Notte Street, Exeter Street, Embankment. In all about 45 miles. Hope it’s sunny. Mike Everett

This week we’ll be heading North for a change and our destination will be Bob’s Café in the Pannier Market, Tavistock. From B&Q we’ll head for Newnham and over the climbs of Les Deux Alpes (which you all enjoyed a few weeks ago) up onto Lee Moor. At the top we’ll turn left this time and head for Cadover and then Yelverton. From Yelverton we’ll follow the Drake’s Trail, a mostly off road route that goes all of the way to Tavistock.
