Saturday Road Ride Leaders

In order for our Saturday Road Rides to take place, we need volunteers to lead. If you can lead a ride or two (or even more) that would be fantastic and we would like to hear from you. Saturday Leisure Ride – 1st August

Carl (Ski) has very kindly offered to lead the Leisure ride this weekend, his route as follows; I’ll lead the leisure ride on a two cafe stop tour on Dartmoor. We will go climb up through Leigham, George junction (pick up point), Robourgh, Yelverton Golf Club, on the road down to Tavistock and Bob’s Cafe. From there we climb out to do Pork Hill and Merrivale with the second cafe stop at Foxtor Cafe, then a nice scenic downhill to Yelverton and back to B&Q, All at a steady pace.SKI Have a good day

Saturday C Road Ride – 1st August

John Ambrose will be ride leader for the C ride this weekend, thank you John. His route as follows; Hi, This week’s C ride is about 48 miles with 1467m of climbing. Strava link as follows; http://www.strava.com/routes/2942365 Option to extend a bit after cafe stop if the group wishes. Start at B&Q with usual route to Ivybridge, South Brent and Buckfastleigh. We turn hard left at bottom of the hill here so be warned, don’t over shoot and keep on going. Now for some climbing as we go up and down through Scorriton to Holne. Saturday A Road Ride – 1st August

Andy Greaves will be leading the A ride this weekend, with thanks. His route as follows; From HQ we head towards the Tamar bridge via Forder Valley and along Crownhill road. Aiming to be at the bridge for 9.45. If anyone wants to meet here please let me know. We then go through Saltash and head towards Callington (we will take a left at Hatt and follow the back lane through to Callington). Once here we head towards Gunnislake and on to Tavistock. MTB Fun/Social Ride – Saturday 1st August

For the ‘1st Saturday of the month’ ride this month we will be meeting at Newbridge Carpark, River Dart, Near Ashburton (I say we, I mean everyone else but me, since I’m still unable incapacitated   Iain Smith is standing in and leading the ride. Meeting point will be Newbridge car park, near Ashburton (On the River Dart) at 10.30. Saturday A Road Ride – 25th July

Thank you to Michael Taylor for volunteering to lead the A Ride again this weekend,  the plan as follows; Following two visits out to Lopwell Dam recently – one by car with grandchildren and one by bike – both of them to savour the Pump House legendary cake I plan to take you all out to this little gem. However, to make the route fit a little more to the advised A ride distance, we will head east out of Plymouth via Hemerdon, Sparkwell, Cornwood and up Dragon Hill. Saturday B Road ride – 25th July

Thank you to Bill Booth for volunteering to lead the B ride this weekend,  then plan is as follows; As I am being joined by an Australian friend (John) I met at last years TdF, I intend to lead as scenic route as possible therefore will leave B&Q, around the Hoe to Torpoint Ferry – 09.45 as normal. Then around to St John, Millbrook and along Anderton coast road before heading up to Kingsand & Cawsand. Then along cliffs and coast road to Seaton for cafe stop. Blackpool Sands here we come…’C’ ride 25th July

All in the title, sunny and dry is the forecast – perfect for a trip to the coast for the first day of the holiday season Out via Ivybridge, up the valley and across to California Cross before a little leg stretch up Gara Bridge, across to Dartmouth and down to the lovely Blackpool Sands for a cake and swim?? MTB Fun/Social Ride – Saturday 18th July 2015

For the 3rd Saturday of the month ride this month, I’m away at the National Champs with Lucy and Penny but Iain Smith has kindly offered to step in and lead the ride. Meet at 10am the usual place Roborough Rock Carpark by the old airfield near Yelverton. Then drive somewhere close by to start the ride. Hope you all have a great ride.

The ride leaders this week are Alex Warren and Debbie Hancock. Thank you both for volunteering, their route as follows; Leaving B&Q we will take the cycle path down the Embankment and the through the Cattedown wharves and round the Hoe to the Torpoint Ferry (which used to be a regular YOGi route but which seems to have fallen into disuse recently) where we will pick up any riders wishing to meet us there before crossing the Ferry no earlier than 9.45. Saturday A Road Ride – 18th July

Thanks to Michael Taylor for volunteering to lead this week’s A ride, his route as follows; Route for the A ride this Saturday will be out via Torpoint, up through St John, Millbrook, Kingsands/Cawsands with a stop for cake and coffee at one of YOGi’s favourites at Cliff View overlooking Whitsands. Once refreshed carry on to Tregantle then, instead of turning back to Anthony, will head further on to Crafthole rejoining the A374 just to the west of Sheviock. Straight run back to Plymouth from there. Distance about 35-40 miles. Have a great day!

Saturday C Road Ride – 18th July

Well it is my turn to lead this weekend, so i thought we could do a ride I’ve not yet done and that also hasn’t been done for a while. Weather is looking promising which will be a big plus. Route as follows; Starting from B&Q we will head for Roadford Reservoir via Duez Alps, Lee Moor, Yelverton, Horrabridge, Tavistock, Brentor, Sprytown, Broadwoodwidger. Well it seems that both Ray & Jim thoroughly enjoyed their time with the Leisure riders last week, so much so that they have volunteered to lead this ride again this weekend. Thank you both!
