Mark Booker has offered to lead an alternative ride this weekend, starting from Callington and riding out to Tintagel and back. The distance is 55 miles. Parking is free at the start point, which is the car park just after the roundabout as you arrive at Callington, (on the Right hand side). The ride will start at 9am from Callington. Unless we have a volunteer to lead the above ride, I’m down as cover for this weeks Leisure ride, so we will be heading out to the south hams, here’s the route – HQ – Lyneham – Yealmpton – Modbury – California Cross – Wrangaton Stopping at the A38 cafe (think its still called that?) return will be back Ivybridge – Lee Mill – Plympton – HQ 30 miles round trip. So I’m looking to venture out to Moretonhampsted via Princetown and post bridge, back down to Bovey, cafe stop there (about 37 miles in I think so bring plenty of snacks) and back through Ashburton etc. Approx 65 miles and around 5000ft of climbing but to be fair climbing probably not accurate. Average speed around 14mph so a relaxed ride for those who would like to step up for some extra mileage.

With fingers firmly crossed for a somewhat better morning than currently forecast, we will head to Burrator via some quiet country lanes and then on to Long Ash for the obligatory (and enjoyable:)) social chit chat, coffee and cake. I have gone for a fairly short one and aim to be back in Plymouth by 12:30. Route is basically Leigham, Green Lane, Crapstone, Dousland, Burrator lap, Walkhampton, Horrabridge, Pound, Long Ash (Coffee and Cake), Crapstone, Home. Circa 30 miles.

Justin Cartwright has offered to lead this week. He’s planned to include some of the Dartmoor Classic route. Out to Lydford Gorge including Pork Hill and Merrivale on the return.
