It’s the 3rd Saturday of the month. We will meet at 10am at Roborough Rock Carpark (large rock on the old airfield near to Yelverton). Then drive on somewhere close by to start the ride. I’m expecting to be back at the Burrator Inn for lunch/snack/drink at around 2pm. Bring a change of clothes for afterwards. Route is Plym Valley Trail – Bickleigh – Leat to Clearbrook – Yelverton – Pound – Walkham Valley – Double Waters – Brilliant Single Track Bridleway to Gem Bridge (Cafe and Cake at Grenofen) – Drakes Trail – Yelverton – then we will make a choice straight home or take an excursion through Cann Woods. Route as follows – Hq – Borringdon hill – Cadover – Yelverton – Princetown – Two Bridges – Dartmeet – Ashburton – Buckfastleigh stopping for a well earned break at the steam railway cafe. Then SouthBrent – Ivybridge – Plympton – HQ Distance is 50 miles and 5000ft Elevation. Hi all I cannot believe that a whole year has passed since our last visit. Therefore I’m super excited to announce that this returns again this year and we have a booking at the Newport Velodrome for Sunday 7th October, with track time 12 noon – 4 pm. So that I can now work out the cost per head, please confirm your DEFINITE interest to attend the event. Justin Stanbrook is the man to blame for the pain this weekend!!! 14-16 ride for Saturday, it’s a return to Bodmin moor for us From HQ it’s a short ride to the ferry, from there out through polbathic, picking up the looe road slowly making our way out to bolventor and Jamaica inn, coffee stop is either at draynes cafe or sibleyback before making our way back to the torpoint ferry Route is 65 miles and 4800ft of climbing This route includes duloe hill! Terry has offered to lead the ride this week. His route – Head out towards Smithaleigh then take back roads to Cornwood, Ivybridge, Wrangton loop to Ermington, cafe stop at Endsleigh Farm Shop. Then back to HQ. 30 miles about 1500 feet of climbing. Thanks for leading Terry.
Sadly this week’s TT has been cancelled. We just don’t have the numbers confirming their wish to participate and gaining volunteers during the Summer holidays is a nightmare. We will review at the end of August / beginning September. Watch out for the Post in August detailing the October Velodrome trip
With rain forecasted for Saturday we’re staying fairly local and doing a shorter ride than the last few weeks – HQ – Lee Moor – Wottor – Cadover – Yelverton – Walkhampton – Tavistock – Gulworthy – Gunnislake – Louis Tea room for cafe stop- Callington – Hatt – Saltash – Crownhill – HQ Ride distance is 45 miles with 1400 meter elevation.
