Another Great Dartmoor Classic

Well done to all the YOGis (and everyone else for that matter) who took part in this year’s Dartmoor Classic, another fantastic, well run event put on by Mid Devon Cycling Club, chapeau!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought twice about staying in bed as the rain had lashed down all Saturday night, but as Sunday arrived and the rain eased, it was game on. It was nice to see so many YOGis at the start, particularly those who were attempting it for the first time.

About 20 miles in, some of us were not sure if the diversion which missed out Holne and Hexworthy  and sent us up Ponsworthy instead (due to a fallen tree) was a blessing or a curse, and that headwind to Princetown was a killer, with many 100 milers opting at the feed station to do the 65 – I did consider it myself. Those that chose to go the full hog were blessed with glorious sunshine in the final stages making the journey a bit more pleasant, although my legs today would disagree.

Feel free to share your tales of valour and woe in the comments below, we look forward to reading them.
