Ok, so whilst the weather is warm and the sun is out we’ll put this ride out before the weather for the weekend changes our minds!! For those who were cycling a few years back you will remember the epic ‘Are you up for it’ Saturday ride, well this route follows that with a small part removed to keep the mileage doable for a Saturday, 85 miles in total 🙂
So the two halves comes from the fact that several of us will no doubt be time bound and not be able to do the whole of this week’s route. The first half or our ride is a standard route out to Buckfastleigh, up to Venford and then across to the first stop of the day at the Foxtor, this is 33 miles in and for those who wish to bail after the stop at this point they can drop down to Yelverton and back into Plymouth for a 50 mile ride.
For those who ‘Are up for it’, the second half route will head down Pork Hill into Tavistock, across to Gunnislake (gulp!) before turning South after Callington and heading down to Tideford and into Seaton for our second stop of the day. Refuelled we will head back along the cliff top to Tregantle and will drop down to Torpoint and the usual bomb burst after the ferry.
Total distance for the full route is 85 miles with 8,000ft of climbing, forecast is showers and sun with a SWl’y breeze, perfect weather!! (and that’s what we thought a few years back!!) Full route map can be found here
