The first autumn Saturday and a forecast easterly breeze to blow us home, the only way to cross the moor with a tail wind! 🙂
This week’s route will see us head out through Plympton, Ivybridge, South Brent, Buckfastleigh to the Dartmoor Lodge (no stopping!) before a leg warmer (if not already warmed up!) up the Peartree climb. We’ll regroup at the small carpark adjacent to the cattle grid which marks the top, to allow the leader (from the rear!) to catch up! From there it’s a due North route passing Jay’s Grave ( info click here ) before we pick up the Princetown road. We then have the luxury of a tailwind to blow us up onto the moor and all the way across to Princetown and the Foxtor for, by then, well earned cake and coffee 🙂
After the legs have stiffened up we’ll remount and have a blast across the moor and down into Yelverton before a regroup and controlled route back across Roborough Down and home.
Route distance is 57 miles and a paltry 4,500ft of climbing (basically flat 🙂 ) Full route can be found here
WARNING Please note, firstly the café stop is at 40 miles so come with food and fluid to get you there, and secondly this always rides harder than it appears on the screen… so bring some gels! 🙂
