YOGi’s listen up!
I wanted to let you all know that I have decided to leave the YOGi riff-raff (alias t’committee) and position of Chair within the club. The reason for my departure has absolutely nothing to do with YOGi itself and is purely down to a new role with increased work commitments. I have found that I can no longer give the time to the committee and to the club that is necessary. So it is only fair that I leave, as I’m sure there are many people who may well be keen to get more involved. That said; don’t think you are getting rid of me that easily because you aren’t! I’m still going to organise the Saturday 14 Road Rides, so all you ride leaders can continue to look forward to correspondence from me. 🙂 And I’m still going to be the club’s woman’s representative for all of us gals out there that like to pedal a bike. 🙂 Wayhay! As I like to say, YOGi gals rock! 🙂
I would like to say that being a part of the committee has been such an invaluable and brilliant experience. I feel very lucky to have been able to be a part of the YOGi journey. I remember clearly when we first launched the club, how excited we were to have 30 new members sign up. And how quickly the club has grown! We now have almost 400 members and have not yet got to our 3rd year of being a club. In addition, we also now have over 70 female members which is just brilliant!
So my departure opens up an opportunity for you all. The committee will be requiring a new person to adopt into the riff-raff. 😉 In regard to what is required, if you think you have the required enthusiasm, drive, commitment and love of YOGi then why not give it a go? You will need to be prepared to give up some of your free time. But hey, if you love the bike, you won’t mind that! For me, most importantly, you will want to look after the main ethos of the club by ensuring that our ‘friendly bunch’ reputation is protected and maintained.
Seriously, being on the committee is really great, so do consider it. It’s not all about hard work and form-filling. It really is also a lot of fun too and you have the opportunity to have an input and say into what is after all your club. Apart from that you will also find that the riff-raff like to partake of a drink after committee meetings from time to time. And if you are really lucky, sometimes you even get to eat cake! What more could you ask for?
So come on YOGi’s do get stuck in! If you’d like more information about how to apply and what is involved please email email@example.com You can rest assured your enquiry will be held in confidence and the committee will give you as much information and guidance as you would like. You can also talk to me if you would like to by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
As I like to say, I’ll see you all around, for more fun on the bike! And thank you, as I also maintain it is not the committee that make this club so great, it is all of you – the members. 🙂
