This week’s Leisure ride led by Big Al, and a big thanks from us for volunteering to lead the Leisure rides so frequently. If anyone else wants to have a go at leading some rides get in touch or ask Al what’s involved..
Something a little different this week as the Leisure riders head into Cornwall. This is a re-run of a ride we did back in May and here’s hoping that the weather is slightly better this time!
We will meet at B&Q as usual and then we’ll make our way to the Torpoint ferry using as much of the traffic free cycle infrastructure as possible, taking us along the Embankment and through Cattedown, the Barbican, Stonehouse and then Devonport.
(The sleepy heads amongst you can meet us on the Plymouth side of the Torpoint crossing at around 10.00am if you wish)
After invading south east Cornwall, we will make our way out of Torpoint on the A374 before turning off at Antony onto the B3247. The short little tickle of Antony Hill is the only real climbing today and we follow the road to T junction before bearing left towards Cawsand. At the next junction we turn right towards Whitsand Bay and on to our café stop at Freathy.
Suitably refreshed with food and sea air we can either return the same way or take the slightly more scenic route via St John & Millbrook, but we can see what the conditions are like on the day.
The ride is around 30 miles with not a lot of up and down and will be at 10-12mph average pace.
Hope to see you there.
