**LATEST** FAB – 16 Ride leaves B&Q at 11:00 meeting up with the Ivybridge chapter at 11:30. Hope to see some of you there.
Definitely the right decision to cancel rides this morning, we’re already getting reports of riders coming off on black ice.
That said, the usual 16 crew want to try for a ride later. So on that basis we’ll check conditions at 10 and if considered safe to do so we’ll meet at B&Q at 11 for a STEADY run out to Totnes, sticking to the main roads as much as possible. If it’s ok we may look to extend the ride on the return journey.
Check back here later, the YOGi Facebook page or contact Director Sportif Cox! 🙂
This weeks 16 ride will continue the elusive search for those base miles…can we finally discover them..? With it looking cold and possibly icy first thing we may need to be a little flexible on the route. The plan is to head out to Tavistock, possibly through Jordan Lane and Batteridge, up to Brentor before turning back to Gulworthy. From here we’ll cross the border in to bandit country and tackle the little climb through Gunnislake and on to Callington. Then it’s back in to the lanes and across to Tideford and Polbathic, a short hop up the main road before turning for the climb up to Crafthole (not done this one before) and around the coast for a cafe stop at Clifftop, still one of my favourite stops. Then back to Torpoint and depending on the mood it’s a new route through Millbrook starting with a great downhill from the cafe or the usual fast blast err, steady base blast, back through Anthony. The ferry crossing sees us back on home turf and it’s across the city and back to YOGi HQ. Route can be found here! The cafe stop is around 50 miles in so be prepared and bring plenty to keep you going til we get there. We may need to adjust the route to avoid some of the quieter roads if it’s icy, it will be cold so be sure to wrap up warm (apologies for sounding like your mum!) OK, I will say it, the intention IS to ride at a pace consistent with base miles but this is the 16 group and our normal rules apply i.e. we do what the majority fancy on the day, but we still won’t (intentionally) leave anyone behind 🙂 Hope to see you there…
