On the assumption that the weather doesn’t scupper our plans for Saturday we’ll have another go at this route. Also means we come back over the ferry which is nice and handy for dropping in to the velosmith.com and RSF workshop open afternoon for an additional cheeky (and free!) coffee and cake stop!
So the plan is to head out to Tavistock, through Jordan Lane and Batteridge, up to Brentor before turning back to Gulworthy. From here we’ll cross the border in to bandit country and tackle the little climb through Gunnislake and on to Callington. Then it’s back in to the lanes and across to Tideford and Polbathic, a short hop up the main road before turning for the climb up to Crafthole (not done this one before) and around the coast for a cafe stop at Clifftop, still one of my favourite stops. Then back to Torpoint and depending on the mood it’s a new route through Millbrook starting with a great downhill from the cafe or the usual fast blast err, steady base blast, back through Anthony. The ferry crossing sees us back on home turf and it’s a short hop off the ferry to the workshop for more coffee and cake!
Route can be found here! The cafe stop is around 50 miles in so be prepared and bring plenty to keep you going til we get there. We may need to adjust the route depending on the weather.
We have all but given up trying to ride base miles but we will keep the pace steady according to those riding. Normal 16 rules apply i.e. we may change the route and stops depending on what the majority want to do on the day, but we still won’t (intentionally) leave anyone behind 🙂
Hope to see you there…
