This week’s 16 ride has been designed with a fully integrated lightweight option for those of us who might need to save ourselves for the velodrome on Sunday (err, that’ll be me then…did I mention still a few places available!! 😉 )
So the suggested route sees us head to Buckfast by the standard route before skirting around the Abbey and cutting up on to the moors through Holne. Then it’s across through Vennford and back towards Two Bridges and Princetown. The lightweight(s) will head for home from here, probably after a cheeky coffee in Foxtor of course! The hardcore can either stop here or crack on with the second half of the route, which is the easy route DOWN Merrivale and Pork remembering to hang a right at the bottom to go down Batteridge as well. Then it’s a left towards Tavy but taking the right turn up past the gliding school and on up to Brentor. Now a good fast run across to Gulworthy before crossing in to Cornwall for the climb up through Gunnislake. then it’s Callington before dropping in to the lanes and back to Hatt (of course there is always the option to come straight back on the main road), Saltash and back to base.
Coffee stop options are Foxtor/Louis’s at Kit Hill or finding somewhere in Gunnislake or Callington!
The full route is 75 miles and can be found here
The lightweight option will make about 50 by the time we come back from Princetown so not too shabby!
Normal 16 rules apply, pace will be determined by those riding and route and stops may change if agreed by the group. 🙂
Hope to see you there for more fun on the bike!
