Group A Ride:
Led by Jim Scott
Jim’s route is: From B&Q out to Princetown then Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracey, Haytor, drop down to Ashburton, over to Totnes – meet up with the B’s at the cafe and then back.
Total 72 miles and possibly a bit more climbing than the B ride.
Group B Ride:
Led by Paul Brindley
This week’s 16 (B) ride will see us cover about 67 miles using a variety of different roads. The aim will be to continue our progression of riding in various groups as well as doing some work on utilising the strength of the group. There will be the opportunity for practising some team time trialling as well as the usual riding in pairs and through and off. The coffee stop aims to be at Totnes but this will be optional so that those who want to keep going don’t feel obliged to stop.
Thanks to Jim Scott and Paul Brindley for volunteering this week. (thanks also to all those who have volunteered for previous rides and helped make them as successful and popular as they are.)
Saturday Training Rides – A and B groups.
These rides are for people who are looking to develop their cycling performance and who wish to ride in a structured group following good group riding practice. They are aimed at people who already have a level of fitness. Novice cyclists should try one of the other YOGi rides first.
For the period before Christmas and into the new year there is an emphasis on developing an endurance base. As cycling events get closer and the weather warms up there will be opportunities for developing speed, power and to continue with endurance base riding. Fast rides will also feature. Groups will aim to have no more than 12 riders and, to facilitate this, there could be a split into A and B groups. There may be more than one ride and route offered, to facilitate various types of riding and keep group numbers manageable.
