Saturday 16 Road Rides – 18th January

A Group – led by Rob Barnes

The weather forecast keeps changing the amount of rain due for Saturday and consequently I am a bit unsure as what to ride. One option is to ride out to Hatt, Callington,  Liskeard, Seaton, Coast road – Torpoint which is 55 miles B&Q to Torpoint.

Second is to Ride the coastal roads through Cawsand and on to Polperro and then back via Widegates and the valley road to Torpoint. Roughly the same milage but with 2 Torpoint crossings.

If the day turns out dry we can add miles to these routes or head off into the south hams for a longer route.

If numbers are down or its very wet we could join up with the Bs.

So, we can decide whats best on the day and what people want to do.

B Group – led by Andy Everett

This week we are going to do an easy 45 miles, with minimal elevation.

Perhaps an opportunity to increase speed however this will depend on what the group wants on the day.

The route can also be found on the YOGi website, Titled The Buckfastleigh loop Ride distance approx 45 miles.

Cycle out towards Cornwood via Sparkwell. From Cornwood we descend down to Ivybridge and then follow the well know route to Buckastleigh.  At Buckfastleigh we take the road to Dartington, this is where we shall stop at the Cider Press for our cup of tea. We shall then take the A385 for a few miles before turning off to join the Plymouth road to Avonwick. At Avonwick we shall climb up and down till we reach Ermington, from Ermington we shall head back to Ivybridge and then on back to Plympton.

This route is under 50 miles and there is not a lot of elevation, this will perhaps give us the chance to increase the speed, however it will also give folk who have been riding with the 14’s a chance perhaps to try a ride with us. The pace on the day will be determinded by the group and the plan as ever is to look after each other, support each other and have fun.  That’s why we are the friendly bunch!
