This week’s ride is being led by Steve Tobin:
If the forecast is accurate, then this ride will be a true test of character, as we enjoy the benefit of a very strong south westerly wind for half the ride and battle it all the way home!
The route from B&Q will be; Embankment, Laira Bridge, Erme Valley, Avonwick, Totnes, Ipplepen, Newton Abbot, Bovey Tracy. Café stop at the Brookside (not cheap but quite nice). Then it’s straight up Haytor where I expect we will summit into the full force of the gale. We will descend toward Ashburton but peel off right near the end of the drop to miss the town centre, Buckfastleigh, South Brent, Ivybridge, Home.
At a little over 70 miles and 6500ft, this ordinarily wouldn’t be that much of a toughy, but I have a feeling the weather will add the X factor!!
