Showery day, SW’ly breeze, perfect for a jaunt to Jay’s Grave, C ride Sat 9th

Yep, according to the great BBC forecasters we are set for a nice SW’ly breeze this weekend to give us a great shove across the moors, might be a few showeres on the way but time has come and we cannot avoid them any more!

Saturday’s ride will head up the cycle path but jump onto Roughborough Down at Clearbrook to avoid the mud a bit further on, meet us at Yelverton for a 10:00 departure for any wanting a lie in.  Normal route from here straight up Peak Hill and across to Princetown for a regroup.  Then it’s downwind all the way across to the other side of the moor, as we come off the other side we’ll take the right and head across to the top of Pear Tree passing Jay’s Grave on the way.  Take care descending Pear Tree, it will be wet and we don’t want anyone missing the turn at the bottom!  Passing the Dartmoor Lodge we’ll shoot over to Buckfastleigh and take a cake and coffee break at the railway café.  Refreshed it’s a simple (might be a slight headwind!) straight route back to Plymouth.

Total distance is 56 miles with 4,500ft of climbing…nice easy pace.  Full route can be found here

Time to start getting rid of that Christmas excess so no excuses, and just got to take advantage of that tail wind across the moors!

See you all on Saturday
