Dartmoor Classic Photos
Well done to all those who took part in yesterday’s Dartmoor Classic!!
It was good to see so many of you still smiling as you made your way up the hill after the Warren House Inn and through the unofficial YOGi Cycling “encouragement and refreshment checkpoint”. It was here that (while stocks lasted) encouragement, jelly babies/beans and a cooling down were on offer to those that needed it – not just YOGi’s! Read more…
Dartmoor Classic 2013
Well done to all those who took part in this year’s Dartmoor Classic! The weather was probably worse than any of the previous years that I have taken part with strong headwinds making the first half particularly difficult. Fortunately, those same winds gave some assistance for the second half and I saw many smiling faces on the roads to Moretonhampstead.
Yes you may have seen me there – I didn’t enter this year and chose to ride “against the flow” from the finish to Moretonhampstead passing many smiling riders (and a few with serious race faces on) who were realising that the worse was over with. Read more…
Another Great Dartmoor Classic
Well done to all the YOGis (and everyone else for that matter) who took part in this year’s Dartmoor Classic, another fantastic, well run event put on by Mid Devon Cycling Club, chapeau! I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought twice about staying in bed as the rain had lashed down all Saturday night, but as Sunday arrived and the rain eased, it was game on. It was nice to see so many YOGis at the start, particularly those who were attempting it for the first time. About 20 miles in, some of us were not sure if … Read more…
Dartmoor Classic sign-on and start times
Yet again we are going to have a huge turnout for the Dartmoor Classic next week. Good luck to everyone whether you are aiming for gold or completing your first sportive. As in previous years many of us will be registering on Saturday afternoon, soaking up the sun (hopefully) and eating burger and ice-cream based foods as part of a healthy pre-ride nutrition plan. On the morning of the event we are proposing to all meet at 7.30 for a group photo with those doing the 100 miles setting off soon afterwards and those doing 100km not long to … Read more…
Dartmoor Classic – Route Recce 3 – Thurs 16th June
D-Day is drawing closer, yes that’s right the Dartmoor Classic on Sunday 26th June. You’ll no doubt have heard that YOGi has around 119 riders taking part, twice the number we had last year. It’s a big event for the club and is always a fantastic experience, all be it a painful one for some! Previously we have run route recces so that riders can familiarise themselves with the course, so below you find the dates of this years rides. The full 106 mile route has been broken down into 3 sections. The first 2 rides are specific to both … Read more…
Dartmoor Classic Target Times and Groups
Only 2 weeks to go until the Dartmoor Classic. The club has over 100 riders taking part in the event. It will be a lot easier to achieve your desired medals by riding in groups. Below you will see the various medal times and the average speed required to reach them. I know that Ian Roberts and a few others are going for gold in the 100 miles; a tough target for sure. Why not post your target time in the comments and sort out some groups. We usually aim to all start together (for our respective distances) and then get into … Read more…
