Yogi MTB Mince Pies, Holly and Snow – Saturday 17th December

We all met at 10am in Newbridge car park for the XMAS MTB Fun/Adventure Ride in the Dart valley; well most of us, Colin just made it as he had been waiting at Two Bridges and Lucy G only met us because Colin delayed our departure!  Everyone managed to get a space in the car park despite there being hundreds of canoeists, as it is the start of the “Loop” run on the River Dart.  We had a good turn out with many of the regular fun riders plus some of the regular Thursday night riders.  Those present were: Andy … Read more…

Seven of us met at Yelverton for what looked like a blustery 3rd Saturday Fun Ride. It turned out nicer than expected though as is so often the case.   We travelled out to a Carpark just south of Beliver Tor – Tom, convinced that we were meeting at Quarry carpark kindly checked that no one else had misread the website and called in there on the way just make sure. Riding this this ride were: Roger and Penny Eyre, Emily Johns (on her second ride with us), Tom Nickson, Andy Westcott, Penny Allan and yours truly.  As Penny A and I had … Read more…

Kielder 100 – 2011

Report by Ben Causon After a successful 2010 Kielder 100 ride, Andy Powell and Dave Elliot inspired 3 more Yogi’s (Gary Bees, Andy Pearse & Ben Causon) plus soon to be Yogi Nigel Hook to join them in 2011. After months of training, following separate training plans, Team Yogi were in good shape for the event, including Andy Powell who had struggled since a bad fall in June in the French Alps. We arrived at the camp-site mid afternoon on Friday and promptly set about making camp in the only area of field not already occupied. After much deliberation we … Read more…

MTB Adventure Ride – Thursday 11th August (Words)

It was a wet August night but a good gathering of over 12 riders turned up at Yelverton for the Thursday Adventure ride. No Windy this week (sunning himself in spain) so Andy Pearse led us on the Dwarf run. The route is superb in the dry but with the added moisture in the air it steps up a level in difficulty thanks to the slippery roots and lower than normal overhanging branches. Not long from the car we had our first mechanical as Robs tyre gave out and then moments later we lost a rear mech hanger which was … Read more…

YOGi Morzine MTB Adventure Trip 2011 Day 1-3

We all look forward to a holiday but when it involves mountain, riding, friends and a great location you know you have a winning recipe for something special. Planning for the trip commenced in the autumn of 2010 to ensure we all had enough time to get a leave pass from our better halves and to give plenty of time to wind up our riding friends who were staying at home. By the departure date our numbers had swelled to 14 riders including: Andy Ball, Andy Pearce, Andy Powell, Andy Pyke (The first rule was you had to be called … Read more…

MTB Adventure Ride – Saturday 2nd July 2011 (Words)

Well “MTB Adventure Ride” was certainly the right name for it- as an adventure was what it was from start to finish!  It Started in Quarry Tor car park near Burrator with Steve relating various exciting tales about their trip to Morzine.  We also welcomed two new riders Jo and Ronnie, and heard that Hannah would not be joining us as Bracken was being electrocuted!!! (Something to do with not chasing sheep). On the ride was Steve (leading it), Tom, John, Liz, Jo, Ronnie, Justin and myself (Penny).  It was a glorious sunny day as we left the car park, and … Read more…
