Great South West Sportive (Road) – Sunday 14th October 2018

Something to keep you fit & busy next Sunday!!! THis looks like a good addition to the local Road Sportive Calendar. Saturday Leisure Ride – 31st October

Thanks to both Ski & Ray again this week. Their route is around the Torpoint area with a couple cafe stops at both the Maker andSeaton, Then its back to Torpoint to cross the ferry and back to B&Q. Thanks again chaps

Saturday A Road Ride – 31st October

Trevor Monk will be leading the A ride, with thanks. His route is as follows; From Yogi HQ we will go up Larkham lane, down Crossways up towards Sparkwell then out past Langage, bit of a mystery tour through the back lanes to Yealmpton then up the valley for a coffee stop at Wrangaton, From cafe to Ivybridge, Leemill then a option of either straight home or Dragon hill, Elfordliegh, B&Q (depending on how everyone is feeling!!) Saturday B Road Ride – 31st October

Thanks to Mark Brooker for volunteering to lead this week His route will be a trip to Salcombe, not so sure you will be needing your Sun lotion this time round though. The Cake stop this week will be at the Wrinkly Prawn, Salcombe Approx 54.5 Miles & 5185 ft of climbing. To be conducted at usual B ride pace. Saturday D Road Ride – 31st October

Thanks to Adrian Longman for volunteering to lead the D ride, route as follows; Saturday D Ride 31/10/15. Long and Steady With a favourable forecast at the moment I thought we could get one of our old favourites in, the Exeter/Haldon Loop. Distance is 90+ miles so you’ll have to add a bit if you want to make the century. We are in winter mode now so pace will be steady and sociable. Summer Series / League ***Your thoughts & feedback please***

All YOGI Members Can I have your thoughts / feedback please;   I’d like to introduce a “Members only” YOGI Summer Series / League. Taking place on a night within the Week (Possibly a Wednesday) from around May time every week, the league would offer a variety of disciplines for our members to test themselves, namely Time Trials, Team time Trials, Road Race and Hill-Climbs (Events still TBC) The 1st event would kick off with a Time-trial on a local course. Saturday D Road Ride – 24th October…Bring Your Climbing Legs!

Once again, thanks to Mike Smith for leading this week’s D ride…. Plan is to meet at B&Q at 8 where we head straight out to Ashburton and up Poundsgate for a bit of early lactate pain. He glosses over the next bit with a simple “head on through to Tavy’ so that will be across the renowned pan flat Dartmoor then Mike? 😉 After a pit stop in Tavy it’s on to Gunnislake, and up the last big climb of the day. Saturday C Road Ride 24th October… Foxtor calling 🙂

A return to a route we did a few months ago, going to be showery, sunny, mild, but mainly breezy!!  so what better time to take a trip up Pork and Merrivale with a nice push from the West? 🙂 The route will take us along Eggbuckland road out to the bridge…any late risers meet us there, (we’ll leave there no earlier than 0935), after that we’ll take the new bridge over the Carkeel roundabout and head up the Callington road.  When we reach the Hatt roundabout we’ll decide on either the back road or the main road, decided by … Read more…

My turn to lead the C ride this week, so I thought i would follow in Andy Wright’s footsteps from last week and head out to Dartmouth / Slapton Sands. His ride unfortunately didn’t go ahead due to a C ride no show, therefore heres to hoping for a better turn out; From B&Q we head for Ivybridge and up along the Ermington to Wrangaton Valley where we will take a right at Kitford Cross, Head towards California Cross and take a left towards Gara Bridge & Moreleigh. Thanks to Bill Booth for volunteering to lead the B ride this weekend, route as follows; B&Q – Forder Valley – Saltash Bridge – Hatt – lanes towards Callington – A390 down to Liskeard – lanes thro Duloe to – Looe – cafe stop @ Tasty corner West Looe circa 30 miles in – Hessenford – Polbathic – Sheviock – Torpoint ferry – B&Q. Distance 53.8 mile full loop. B ride mph average applies 12-14 Forecast – Dry!!!

Thanks to both Jim Grozier and Ray Cooke, for volunteering to lead the Leisure ride this weekend, their route is as follows; B&Q to Ivybridge then right on the roundabout to Ermington. Cice steady climb from their upto Wrangaton where we’ll have our 1st stop at the route 38 cafe. After a lovely phatboy phry-up it’ll b onto Ivybridge again then to Cornwood and from here we can decide whetherit’s a Dragon hill type climb onto a decent down Duez Alps to Plympton and back home to B&Q or Straight to Lee mill and back home via Smithaleigh, Lyneham and Plympton. Saturday D Road Ride – 17th October

*** UPDATE – WE WILL MEET AT B&Q at 8 a.m. AS NORMAL*** And now for something completely different, well slightly different anyway… The machine that is Mike Smith is responsible for this week’s excitement Firstly note that this weeks D ride will meet at the Torpoint Ferry (Plymouth side) at our usual time of 8 a.m. Mikes plan is to pace line the Trerulefoot TT route ‘with conviction’!
