Saturday 12 Road Ride – 25th May

Well as I said in my note if we don’t post the ride by Thurs eve it means we have no volunteer and that is the case on this Bank Hol weekend!

So please turn up and mutually agree a route and everyone do their part in ensuring a safe and enjoyable day on the bike. Of course key is to ensure you ride to the guidelines in our ‘Rides Ethos’ and maybe take another look at our guide to group riding, giving hand/verbal signals and passing them up/down the line. Annual Navy Cycling Festival 2012 – Ilton Somerset Sunday 14th April

We have been asked to advertise this event, which of course we are delighted to do, especially as it is also aimed at family participation.

It would be good to see YOGi Cycling represented and a two up time trial perhaps a good way for a first attempt at any competitive cycling, there’s nothing more rewarding than being physically sick in tandem!!!  Well apart from watching others doing it that is!

So if you are interested and have a chosen partner enter directly via the link, or if you want to find a partner post below and then jointly register. Link is at the bottom of the article. Read more…

YOGi France Trip……….CANCELLED 🙁

We are really sorry but we have had to cancel the France trip this morning, the background and reason is that Brittany Ferries only have so many discounted places to sell and once the number is reached they reserve the right to up the prices to normal. As we have left it so late to arrange and book, the discounted places are no longer available in the number we require – they could not even tell us if they had 1 or 20 left….the bottom line is the price would have gone over £100 a head and we did not consider that value for money. 23rd May – New Road Race on the Local Calendar – Organised by Corinthians CC

A message from Tom Cann from Plymouth Corinthian CC – They are putting on a new race this year, it is a Modbury Evening Road Race for 3/4 cats on the Ermington circuit on Thursday 23rd May. Entries (first come first served) open now online below. Would be good to see some of our budding racers give it a go and therefore support Corinthians in their venture. If you don’t want to race then how about going along and encouraging all the local riders who do. Read more…

Saturday 16 Road Ride – 1st December

Hi all, I’ve been planning this ride for a while now and I’m looking forward to being out on the bike again after last weekend’s wash out. This ride will provide an opportunity to get some winter miles in the legs. Pace will be steady and I estimate that the av speed will be about 15.7 by the time we get back. Numbers were down a fortnight ago so hope to see the usual suspects out and new comers or old comers are welcome too. From our usual starting place at B&Q 09:00 we ride directly to the Torpoint ferry. … Read more…

Saturday ‘16’ Road Ride – 13th October

Darren Fisher has kindly volunteered to lead this Saturday’s ride and has come up with a new cafe stop and a great route. I for one am looking forward to it. Here is his route: From Plympton we will head to Yelverton via Elfordleigh and Cadover bridge. From Yelverton we have a steady climb up to Princetown then onto Two Bridges. From Two Bridges it’s the Dartmoor classic route to Moretonhampstead, then onto Bovey Tracey. Next we head for Haytor and our café stop at the Dandelion Café. Following our coffee and cake it’s a great decent with fantastic views to Widecombe.  After … Read more…

Saturday Road Rides – 15th September

As you’re probably all now aware, the Tour of Britain is coming through YOGi Land on Saturday so we will be arranging the rides to coincide with various vantage points from which to watch the professionals make mole-hills out of our mountains. There will be several rides to choose from. The routes are not all finalised but to give you an idea: ’12’ Route 1 (approximately 36 miles) Yorks (Paul Cunningham) has kindly volunteered to lead a group of ’12’ riders. His route will take you up the cycle path to Goodameavy, turning right (back under the path) and up Goodameavy … Read more…

YOGi Road Race Update – It’s on the 2nd September!

An update from our very own race organiser – Phil! The race date is getting nearer!  The earlier post (see below) produced 6 volunteers but more are needed.  I am particularly interested in members who are willing to drive their own car to carry officials, first aiders etc.  The vehicle insurance for the event is covered by BCF and, therefore, volunteer drivers must be BCF members.  Fuel costs will be reimbursed. Please let me know: if you are willing to drive and provide your car (even if you have already put your name forward);  if you want to help in … Read more…
