Saturday 14 Road Ride – 21st March

Well it looks like Spring is finally clicking itself into Gear. The weather that we have experienced so far this week, thankfully looks set to continue into the weekend also. So with this in mind, this week I will be leading the 14’s Ride up onto the Moors and lets hope my Bike plays ball! As an overview – We will set off from HQ at normal time and head up towards Lee Moor via Duez Alps. From here we make our way over Cadover Bridge and travel through Sheepstor to rejoin the Main Road to Princetown (B3212). We then follow the road towards Dartmeet … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 14th March (Photos)

This weeks 14 ride will be led by myself and will see us visit an old faithful route. We will be heading to Loddiswell. Route: B+Q, Plympton, Ivybridge, Wrangaton, california Cross and onto Loddiswell. There are options for people who may want to cut it short at California Cross and also the option to extend the ride beyond the cafe stop if motivation and weather is with us. Some photos from the day:

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 7th March….a trip up North!

Forecast is dry with Southerly winds…that should be warm then!! Fingers crossed the Met Office has it right again and should make for a nice jaunt to the North anti clockwise around Lydford. and Chillaton Route is a nice steady warm up down the Plymbridge cycle track to Yelverton, considerate as ever we’ll not leave the car park there before 10 and hence no excuses for missing the ride for our late risers…you all know who you are!! From Yelverton we’ll head down through Walkhampton and on to Moorshop and down Batterbridge, turning right on the Okehampton road we’ll stay tight … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 28th February. Gusty damp trip to the seaside!

Hi all,  having taken the bull by the horn a couple of weeks back with a slightly lumpy trip on to the moors, this week will see us take on the south westerly forecast winds …..head on!  as we ride the cliff top route to Seaton. Route is one we did towards the end of last year and starts with the normal transit through the city centre before taking the Torpoint ferry, and yes for those who wish a lay in this is perfect and we will not leave there before the 0945 ferry.  Once in Torpoint we’ll follow the … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 14th February

Ok, after a two month lay off the only way guaranteed to get me back out was to take the plunge and lead the ride….commitment!  had a quick look at the forecast for this weekend; dry relatively warm with a westerly wind, what better time to head east over the moor to get a bit of a push up to Princetown! Route this week will take us up the cycle path to Yelverton, perfect for a 10 depart from there for all those voting for a later start in the winter, meet us in the Church car park 🙂  From here it’s … Read more…

Saturday 14 & 12 Road Rides – 7th February

Hi all, It’s looking like we are going to be short of ride leaders for this week’s 12 and 14 rides. We will therefore resort to how we used to do it in the good old days ( “during the war” as Uncle Albert would say). Meet at B&Q car park at 09:00 and think up a route or routes between us. We are also looking for ride leaders for the months ahead please, if you are available please add a comment to the Ride Leader’s post and I will then update the list, thank you. Ian   :  )

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 31st January *Cancelled*

Hopefully we won’t get the weather that is currently being forecast but to be on the safe side please check this post in the morning to ensure we run the ride. Ride route (if weather ok) with a few alternative ways depending on weather. B+Q, Plympton, Ivybridge, Wrangaton – and here we will decide upon Dartington/Totnes or Buckfast (if we’re not too wet)

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 17th January

Hi All, A big thanks to Alex (Haste) who has volunteered to lead a route around the scenic South Hams and the coast this week.  He has tried to pick a route that has not been used for a while basically heading out to towards Dartmouth / Slapton Sands and back. He has attached a link for those who want to know the precise route! http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/South-Hams-Scenic-62 Alex confesses that he has never ridden it before so any of us riding who is familiar with it might want to volunteer to help should he start heading towards France 🙂  The all important coffee and cake stop … Read more…

Saturday 14 Road Ride – 10th January

Hi all, Looks like it’s another week where ignoring the weather forecast until 07:30 on ride morning is the way to go. Yep we have to hope it is wrong again (‘we’ being those who share my appreciation of wet starts!). I can picture the scene all over the UK, wake up, look out of the window, see it’s raining and think “Mmm back to bed”. Oh wait, “no can’t do that I’ve just made a new year promise to do more miles than my lowly 2014 effort”. Err will I………., won’t I……….?   Amateur psychologists now prepare your character assassinations! … Read more…

Pre Christmas Ritual ’14’ Road Ride – Saturday 20th December

As is custom on the last Saturday before Christmas this week’s ride will end at the Burrator Inn, where we will meet up with the other Road and MTB rides for a post ride social gathering! Tinsel and Fancy Dress encouraged! And to be extra helpful the ride will pass the Burrator Inn at approx. 10:00am (ish!) on the outward leg. That way those who prefer have the option to leave their car and warm/dry/normal/Christmas Jumpers/clothes there to change into.  Of course the extra keenies will leave their car early and ride down to Coypool whereas those who want a lie … Read more…
