Prudential Ride London Team Entry Opportunity – Sunday 2nd August

Once again as a British Cycling Affiliated club we have been offered the opportunity to enter teams into the Prudential Ride London Event (potentially three teams of 4).   Though I add caution as its possible we will actually be reduced to only one team (even none).  All other affiliated clubs have also been invited to enter teams and a fair allocation is made depending on take up.  This was the approach used last year when indeed we were offered just the one place. The event takes place on Sunday 2nd August and each rider within the team must pay their own … Read more…

Dartmoor Classic Photos

Well done to all those who took part in yesterday’s Dartmoor Classic!!

It was good to see so many of you still smiling as you made your way up the hill after the Warren House Inn and through the unofficial YOGi Cycling “encouragement and refreshment checkpoint”. It was here that (while stocks lasted) encouragement, jelly babies/beans and a cooling down were on offer to those that needed it – not just YOGi’s! Read more…

St Lukes Moonlit Cycle – Volunteers needed

St Lukes are organising a night sportive type event on the 5th July around the Rame Peninsula/Looe area. I’m sure many of you have signed up already but for those that haven’t or those that may want to ride and help at the same time St Lukes are looking for volunteer marshals and riding marshals.

They are looking for people to stand on junctions for a good cause and also for volunteer riders to act as back-markers, to give on-the-road encouragement to other riders, a helping hand to fix punctures if needed etc. If you want to help out and give something back in return for the all the other sportives…. Dartmoor Classic 2013

Well done to all those who took part in this year’s Dartmoor Classic! The weather was probably worse than any of the previous years that I have taken part with strong headwinds making the first half particularly difficult. Fortunately, those same winds gave some assistance for the second half and I saw many smiling faces on the roads to Moretonhampstead.

Yes you may have seen me there – I didn’t enter this year and chose to ride “against the flow” from the finish to Moretonhampstead passing many smiling riders (and a few with serious race faces on) who were realising that the worse was over with. Read more…

The Lionheart Sportive (This Sunday) – 17th March

2013 Lionheart LogoThis is possibly a bit late but I thought it might be a good idea to give people the chance to say what time they’re expecting to get to the start or if they have spaces in their cars etc.

Just comment at the foot of this post to either say if you’re going, you have space, need a lift or are just wondering what time to meet.

Also, in case you haven’t seen the recent event email, here is some important information Read more…

Well done to all the YOGis (and everyone else for that matter) who took part in this year’s Dartmoor Classic, another fantastic, well run event put on by Mid Devon Cycling Club, chapeau! I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought twice about staying in bed as the rain had lashed down all Saturday night, but as Sunday arrived and the rain eased, it was game on. It was nice to see so many YOGis at the start, particularly those who were attempting it for the first time. About 20 miles in, some of us were not sure if … Read more…
