Summer Series / League ***Your thoughts & feedback please***

All YOGI Members Can I have your thoughts / feedback please;   I’d like to introduce a “Members only” YOGI Summer Series / League. Taking place on a night within the Week (Possibly a Wednesday) from around May time every week, the league would offer a variety of disciplines for our members to test themselves, namely Time Trials, Team time Trials, Road Race and Hill-Climbs (Events still TBC) The 1st event would kick off with a Time-trial on a local course. YOGi Time Trials 2014

With spring coming on and plans being made, Cycling Time Trials are setting their calendar for the coming year. We don’t currently run our own time trial but plenty of club members take part in other local trials.  If anyone is interested in organising a YOGi TT, a series of TTs or a hill climb competition, either open or an internal club competition, e-mail us and we can help you put everything in place.

2014 Time Trials and South West Best All-Rounder Competition

Perhaps one day the rain will end and spring will show its face.  For those wanting to do some time-trialling this year, Yogi is a member of the Cycling Time Trials Association. There are options for single, two-up and team time trails, something for everyone to make yourselves feel properly nauseous and having raced for a cafe stop every Saturday you’ll be well prepared. RNRMCA 2-up Team Time Trial – 22nd May

img_4717_copy_ssdThis is a popular time trial event among us YOGi’s as we get to drag along and, in turn be dragged along by, another willing victim. In other words you’re not on your own!

It’s great fun, on a good course (S19/16S) and, if you’re new to time trials, a good introduction.

Plymouth Tri TT Series

The Plymouth Tri TT Series is due to start on 4th April (in a little over two weeks time). These are usually very popular with club members and the series consists of 6 evening time trials each starting at Ermingtonn at 18:30. You can register on the evening of the events (from 17:30 to 18:20) and you can enter any or all of the dates. (Please note the change of course.) Read more…

Annual Navy Cycling Festival 2012 – Ilton Somerset Sunday 14th April

We have been asked to advertise this event, which of course we are delighted to do, especially as it is also aimed at family participation.

It would be good to see YOGi Cycling represented and a two up time trial perhaps a good way for a first attempt at any competitive cycling, there’s nothing more rewarding than being physically sick in tandem!!!  Well apart from watching others doing it that is!

Tavistock Wheelers 25 Mile Open Time Trial – 24th March

Our friends over in Tavistock are organising an early season time trial on the 24th March.

The route is S5/25S which for those not initiated into the arcane code of ancient time trialists means it is up the A386 starting between Tavistcok and Mary Tavy up to the A30 and back down again and will be a hilly (hilly in TT terms not hilly in our usual ride terms) 25 miles. Read more…


Best All Round Time Trialist Competition

The cycling Clubs in the South West, including YOGi, are part of a search to find the best all-round time trialist in the South West in the coming year. Glory and trophies are promised and even if you don’t win it’s a great target to aim for over a season. The competition is judged on average speed over a number of events. Read more…

Urgent TT Marshalls Required – YOGi Time Trial Sunday 9th September

Unless we find more marshals for next Sundays YOGi Time Trial we will have to cancel it on grounds of safety. For those of you who do not use the YOGi Facebook page you may not not know that Mike Deacon who has done to a lot of single handed effort to organise this event (and one on the 23rd September that also needs support) has been putting out regular ‘Pleading for Help’ messages. Club Time Trials – Give it a go

Two-up Torpoint Time Trial 23/5 – Who’s up for it then?

16 mile two-up time trial from HMS Raleigh to the Trerulefoot Roundabout and back on the 23 rd May run by the RN&RMCA. I think we had seven or eight YOGi teams out last year. A great way to spend the evening feeling sick with a friend!

Ermington Time Trials 2012

Plymouth Tri club start their Ermington time trials tonight. It is a 13 mile course. They are held on the first thursday evening of the month. No licence needed just turn up and pay your £5 entry fee. Prizes for the best times at the end of the season. Lots of Yogi’s did these last year and they are great for a first try as very laid back. Registration is at the Crooked spire pub Ermington from 5.30 – 6.20 as the first rider sets off at 6.30.

YOGi 25 Mile Open TT – Results

We had 24 entries for today’s Open 25 mile Time Trial on the Mary Tavy course (pics here) conditions were somewhat blustery! The event was won by Dean Robson of Somerset RC. Fastest lady was Jacqui Rice despite a penalty for starting late. Josh Bullock (Tavi Wheelers) was quickest junior and Adrian Smart fastest YOGi.


YOGi Ermington TT – Results & Pics

Lee Herbert won Sundays Ermington TT with a time of 33:20. Nicola Rovai was the only women taking part but put in a fine performance to finish 10th with a time of 38:20. Photos etc coming soon.
