Plymouth based photographer and YOGi member William Debois was, on 9th October, announced winner of the Master Photography Award’s (MPA) Event category for his cycling image taken during the Shred Classic on Plymouth Hoe in August of last year.
Like many of us, William, enjoys watching such events and has had some of his cycling images published in Shred Magazine, which has led to more cycling based work. He says, “I always try to capture the atmosphere of an event rather than aim to create pin sharp images that would only focus on race action and winners. Being able to combine work and passion is such a gift, but I still wish I had more time to ride!”
Images were judged on artistic merit, use of lighting, composition and print quality. MPA Chief Executive, Colin Buck described the standard of entry this year as “possibly the best ever” and added, “Mr Debois is a credit to the Association and the profession”.
William described the wet conditions during the race as atrocious for the riders, but good for moody and arresting photographs.
