16-18 Ride Saturday 28th September

I’m happy to lead a 16-18 ride this week if there are any takers! Thinking we’ll head out through Tavistock and Gunnislake to Callington. Then some variation of Kelly Bray, Pensilva before dropping down to Liskeard, back lanes across to Trerulefoot, then Seaton Tregantle and back by the ferry. We can stop whenever but either the farm shop at Pensilva or Seaton are the obvious choices but hey, I’m easy! Route looks mostly like this but will be slightly longer, I still need to get the September Fondo after all!! (And yes, we’ll be back before the rain…honest!! 😉

Sat 16-18 Ride – 1st June

This week as promised for Mr Vincent we’ll tackle some more of the Dartmoor Classic route! So from HQ we’ll head out through Deux Alpes and Cadover to Yelverton. Then it’s up to the Burrator Inn before looping back to Walkhampton and Horrabridge, up Jordan Lane to Moorshop and in to Tavistock. Up under the viaduct we ride through Chillaton before taking the scenic route to Lydford. Turning back towards Brentor we go through the village and cut across to Mary Tavy. Next for the triple delights of Batteridge, Pork and Merrivale before a well earned coffee break in Princetown. … Read more…

Sat 16-18 Ride 18th May

Apologies for the late posting but plan is for a Dartmoor loop picking up some of the Dartmoor Classic route. So it’s HQ up to Bovey Tracy, Haytor via Becky Falls, down to Pear Tree and out to the full Holne climb, then back across Vennford to Two Bridges, Princetown and back to P-town. Route sort of looks like this. Coffee stop will be at Foxtor on the way back but it’s a long way in to the ride so bring plenty of food! If we find somewhere else and want to stop earlier no problem. Pace will probably be … Read more…

Sat 16-18 Ride – 11th May

This weeks ride will see us venturing over the water for a trip through Cornwall. Heading out through Callington we’ll climb to Minions before a trip through the Draynes Valley to Jamaica Inn. From here we double back to Dobwalls and on to Looe for a well earned cafe stop. Then it’s back to Hessenford and Torpoint before taking the ferry for home. Distance is around 75 miles with around 6000ft of climbing and sort of looks like this There’s bit of sun in the forecast and a light NW wind could be useful! The only question is who will … Read more…

Good Friday…for a Century Ride

The sun is shining, it’s a Bank Holiday so surely got to be the perfect day for a century ride to the seaside? Led by our very own Ross Wildman, his plan is a century loop out to Bude with a stop for lunch before heading for home. The plan is to meet at The George (Roborough) at 8.45 a.m. Pace will be around 16-18 although may be quicker as it’s a fast route but it will depend who turns up. Either way, we’ll stay together and work as a group so don’t be shy and the more of us … Read more…

Sat 16-18 Ride – 13th April

This weeks ride will be a magical mystery tour! Mostly because I can’t decide whether to pick a route with a headwind on the way out or on the way back!! Where are the voting buttons? If you have a preference let me know in the comments below… Suffice to say it will be around 70-75 miles with cafe stop around 45-50 miles in. Great group riding last week guys…to quote Mr Punch “That’s the way to do it!”. 😀

Saturday 16-18 Ride – 6th April

For this weeks ride I thought we’d take a trip around the moor. Heading off from HQ we’ll come through the George at Derriford by 9:30 if you want to meet us there. Then it’s on to Yelverton, Horrabridge and up Jordan Lane to cut across to the A386. On to Okehampton we head through the town and through Whiddon Down to Morty and Bovey Tracey where we’ll stop at cafe 360. Then it’s homeward bound through Bickington, Ashburton and the usual route back to base. Route is around 78 miles and can be found here. The cafe stop is … Read more…

Century Ride – 30th March – 8 a.m. Start (& 15-17)

With Saturday looking a brilliant day to get out, the century ride is on but there are plenty of options for anyone not up for the full distance. The route will take us from HQ out through Deux Alpes to Lee Moor, Cadover and Yelverton. So there is an option to meet us here at 08:45! Then its onward to Princetown and Postbridge. (First shorter option here – Belliver Forest and back through Dartmeet). Then across the moors to Mortenhampstead BEWARE OF THE CATTLE GRID. (Second shorter option – Bovey Tracey and back through Ashburton). Tackling the lovely climb at … Read more…

Sunday 15-17 Road Ride – 17th March

So a couple of changes for this week…No rides on Saturday so we’ll head out on Sunday! Second change is we’ll meet at The George at Roborough at 9 – mostly on account of me being lazy! 🙂 From The George we’ll head out to Tavistock but trying to shelter in the lanes, we’ll go via Green Lane and Whitchurch. From there out to Gunnislake and on to Kelly Bray before dropping down to Golberdon and up again to Pensilva! Onwards to Liskeard before ducking back in to the lanes I’m sure we’ll find our way to Trereulefoot eventually! Then … Read more…

Saturday 15-17 Road Ride – 9th March

Definitely looking like a wet one this weekend, so just to make sure we get good use of the rain jackets I thought we could head over the moors! The plan is to head out from HQ and up Deux Alpes to Lee Moor, Cadover and Yelverton (aim to be there by 9:50 if you want to meet us there). Then it’s on to Princetown and Two Bridges towards Dartmeet. We’ll turn right before the drop and head towards Venford and on to Holne & Buckfast. A cafe stop at Totnes beckons, got to be The Curator and then back … Read more…

Saturday 15-17 Road Ride 2nd March

With a rapidly changing weather forecast a bit of flexibility may be called for tomorrow, but as I type this it’s not looking too bad with no rain until later in the day and blowy but not strong winds! So once again we’ll try to pick up a tailwind home (hahaha!) by heading in to Cornwall. From HQ we’ll head to the bridge, on to Callington and Coads Green before dropping down to Rilla Mill and up, (and up and up) to Minions! It’s then usually a pretty good run to Looe via Dobwalls and Duloe – fast decent from … Read more…

Saturday 15-17 Road Ride – 23rd Feb

With the weather getting warmer and maybe more than a glimpse of some sunshine a coastal trip seems in order. So the plan for this week will be a loop out through Gara Bridge to Dartmouth and Slapton and back through Kingsbridge and Loddiswell. Cafe stop when we feel like it but somewhere between Blackpool Sands and Loddiswell. Pace will be kept to 15-17 and focussed on keeping together as a group. A great group again last week so if you’re even slightly tempted to step up please give it a go! 🙂

Road Ride 15-17 Sat 16th Feb

This is the second of our steadier ‘step-up’ rides so if you’re one of the stronger riders on the 14-16 ride please consider giving it go! With the weather looking pretty ok for tomorrow and an almost balmy 11deg I thought we’d take a trip across the moors. So from HQ we’ll head up through Leigham picking up at The George around 9:25 for anyone who wants to meet us there (yes, I’m looking at you Mr Wildman 🙂 ) Then it’s on to Meavy and Princetown and across the moors to Morty. We’ll then have a bit of a … Read more…

Saturday 16-18 Road Ride – 26th Jan

This weeks ride will take us across the ferry and in to bandit country! Current plan is to head to Looe, on to Dobwalls and Minions before heading back through Gunnislake, Tavistock and Whitchurch route back to base. Route is about 68 miles but with plenty of options to cut short depending on weather (could be wet and windy!) and what people want to do. Coffee stop when we’re ready but loads of options but probably worth bringing some food! Route can be found here Hope to see you on Saturday! 🙂

16 – 18 Road Ride 5th January

So if there are any takers I’ll lead a 16-18 ride which will head to Totnes before turning to Buckfast and on to the moor through Holne and Vennford. We’ll stop for coffee at Foxtor in Princetown before a fast blast back to P-town. Distance will be somewhere around 55-60 miles with around 5500ft of climbing. Route will look a bit like this Coffee stop is well in to the ride so come prepared and pace will be much more 16 than 18…we might not even make that given the amount of climbing but let’s see how it goes…! 🙂 … Read more…
