Hi All, Following our FaceBook and Website posting that aimed to gauge interest in leading or joining group rides that adhere to British Cycling and Cycling UK’s guidelines, its is clear that there is demand. Thats great news so many thanks to this who responded and particularly to those who are willing to lead. Covid Related Group Rides Message -28th June

Hi all, Finally some good news for cycling clubs!  The UK Cycling affiliations have given the go ahead for the resumption of group rides with a max of up to 6 people. All rides that meet this criteria can be sanctioned under our club rides insurance.  We have discussed our approach via email and believe there will be a mix of opinions with some very keen to ride and others not.So our starting point is to gauge interest from you.  The biggest challenge to putting rides on will be having a ride leader for every group of 6. Leaders must receive … Read more…

Coronavirus Response -All Club Rides Cancelled Until Further Notice

Hi All, As you will be aware due to the fast changing face of advice related to the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s clear we all need to do our bit to delay it’s spread and help the NHS to prepare.  Therefore with immediate effect we are cancelling all club rides until further notice.  Keeping fit is helpful whereas being in large groups is not!  So best we do our own thing, meanwhile we will keep up to date with advice and update accordingly. We wish you and your families the best through what looks like being the biggest international issue and of us … Read more…

2020 Prudential Ride London – Surrey 100 (15/16 August)

Hi all, After last years lack of opportunity (some confusing comms you may recall), this year we have been given the heads up again to apply for team places so I have requested the usual 3 team places. One all male, one all female and one mixed (at least one male/female I believe this time round). I have stated that if we are only offered one team place, then it will be a mixed team. Now for the crux of it:  if you want to be considered please let me know by emailing me at steve1clare@gmail.com by 24th March stating whether … Read more…

Road Rides Cancelled – Sat 15th Feb

Hi All, It will be no surprise that we are cancelling all road rides for tomorrow (Saturday 15th Feb), the weather forecast is leaving no doubt that group riding on the road will be too risky. So putting the message out now so you can make other plans. Such as dusting off your MTB and go off roading, (away from trees naturally!).

Potentially a 12 -16 Christmas Road Ride – Saturday 21st December

Well as the somewhat iffy forecast makes it is likely to be one of those days when our numbers will be low, makes sense to expect a combined ride. Hence the heading! Should numbers be better than indicated via our FB page, then we will have an impromptu re jig in the morning. Whatever…… my plan is to do this route at whatever pace we mutually agree. Though it won’t be suitable for Leisure Paced riders. It will leave at the normal 09.00 from Coypool. Coypool – Leigham – Yelverton (Via Green Lane so not long on the A386!) – … Read more…

YOGi eBike Policy

As the growth of eBike use continues it is binging the sport of cycling to those who otherwise may not be able, to ride as well as becoming more and more attractive to those who simply want to enjoy a different ride.  As a club we applaud this but at the same time appreciate the need for guidelines and a policy. This policy should be read in conjunction with our standard ride guidelines and our club ‘Rides Ethos’, all available on this YOGi Cycling Website.  These are in place to clarify required behaviour of all members and guests on club rides.  The aim … Read more…

Christmas Festive MTB and Road Rides – Saturday 21st December

Hi All, The Saturday before Christmas is our traditional  pre Festive Rides day and so will end with a social meet at the Burrator Inn.  Great if you decorate your bike and/or wear your Christmas Jumpers/Santa hats.  Nothing is booked other than the staff advised we estimate numbers of circa 35 – 40 in number. You can park there in the morning if you prefer to join your ride choice here. Volunteer ride leaders are asked to ensure rides pass the Burrator Inn early on to enable anyone who prefers to do so, to drop off dry/warm clothes.  Rides will … Read more…

12-14 Road Ride Saturday 7th December

Hi All, Hopefully I can remember how to ride a road bike, ages since I did a Saturday Club ride, so looking forward to seeing some of the usual faces and maybe some newer ones! Thought we could get in to the Christmas spirit now we are well into December. To help that mood along, we will head to Buckfastleigh and wave at all the children aged 1 – 90 on the Steam Train Santa Special as we drink coffee and eat cake! Route is:- Plympton – Lymham – Ivybridge – Wrangaton – South Brent – Rattery – Buckfastleigh (cafe … Read more…

Leisure Ride – Saturday 8th June 2019

With fingers firmly crossed for a somewhat better morning than currently forecast, we will head to Burrator via some quiet country lanes and then on to Long Ash for the obligatory (and enjoyable:)) social chit chat, coffee and cake. I have gone for a fairly short one and aim to be back in Plymouth by 12:30. Route is basically Leigham, Green Lane, Crapstone, Dousland, Burrator lap, Walkhampton, Horrabridge, Pound, Long Ash (Coffee and Cake), Crapstone, Home. Circa 30 miles.

Saturday 1st June – Mountain Bike Ride for Roadies (and yep even MTBers)

Mountain Bike Ride for Roadies (and yep even MTBers)😄 Thought time for another one, so meet as usual at Coypool for 09:00.  This ride will be aimed at those who are not necessarily regular MTBers but fancy a change.  So if you are one of those with an MTB in the garage gathering dust, get some air in your tyres and give it a go.  Route and pace will be such that anyone who turns up will enjoy.   We will agree in the morning but choice will be either Double Waters via the stunning Walkham Valley, or if it … Read more…

Saturday Leisure Ride -20th April

Hi All. Got to be the perfect time to visit the sea side what with Sunshine, warmth and a hol weekend all combining to make it an obvious choice. Route is Cattewater- Millbay-Torpoint Ferry (approx for 10am ferry)-St John-Millbrook- Maker-Cawsand-Whitsand Bay (cafe stop at the Cliff Top)-Tregantle- Anthony-Torpoint-Home. A perfect route of 35 miles albeit a bit hilly but we will take these at a genuine Leisure pace and keep us in a tight group. As ever looking forward to seeing the usual faces and ideally some less familiar/new ones👍!

Road Rides Forum – Friday 5th September

Hi All, A date for your diaries! We are holding a ‘Road Rides’ forum on Friday 5th April, at the ELM Centre, Estover (near Asda), commencing at 7pm. We have not held one of these since Bryan and Becky’s last one, so long overdue. Agenda is: -Show a group Riding techniques Video and discuss -Agree a response when either individually or a group ride we experience any form of intimidation (basically a blank piece of paper discussion so everybody’s input appreciated!). Andy Burch is trying to encourage a member of the police along and if so this subject will be … Read more…

Saturday 16th March Road Rides Cancelled

Hi all, having swapped a few messages, we are cancelling all club road rides for tomorrow now because the forecast is virtually certain it’s going to be a severe storm day from the outset. March hasn’t been cycling friendly yet as it! Still in like a Lion out like a Lamb so tradition says! Simon at least plans to take a ride out on Sunday which is expected to be a better day. Anyone else who wants to do so please post accordingly. It will of course be considered an official club ride for insurance purposes. Should however the forecast … Read more…
