Group Ride Changes – Effective from Saturday 22nd May

Hi all, Please find details of the next phase of our COVID-19 restricted rides. Firstly though a big thank you to those of you who have been volunteering and posting rides on our FB page over the last few months, very much appreciated. It is feedback from ride leaders that has led to this next phase of our lockdown rides that some prefer to lead smaller groups. However we also want to enable as many members as safely possible to join group rides. Therefore with immediate effect, if you want to lead a ride please continue to advise the route, … Read more…

Road Rides – Group Rides of 6 To Recommence 29th March

Hi all, The great news is that as from 29th March we are allowed to recommence group rides. Initially we have chosen to only run with groups of no more than 6. We believe that to ride with any bigger size group whilst maintaining the required social distancing is likely to cause disruption on the roads. We will be reviewing this regularly and respond with changes accordingly. To keep it simple all rides will meet and depart from Coypool. Those of you who are willing to lead a ride, and we thank you now if you are: please post on … Read more…

COVID 19 – All Rides Cancelled (effective from 04/01/2021)

Hi All, Following the latest governments COVID-19 briefing today and the return to lockdown, regrettably all club rides are cancelled until further notice. We will update when things change, so meanwhile hopefully you can make the best of it and enjoy riding on your own or with members of your household within the spirit of being allowed to exercise during the lockdown. What else can we say other than roll on the end of this pandemic and the resumption of normality.

COVID 19 – Cancellation of Club Rides

Hi All, Further to the latest COVID 19 briefing this evening, once again we have to formally cancel all club rides until further notice When things change we will update straight away, meanwhile you will be able to continue riding with your household or yourself. There are no obvious rules yet about how far/ how often so it’s up to us all to make our own judgement. What else can we say but roll on the end of this awful pandemic and the resumption of normality.

Covid Related Group Rides Message -28th June

Hi all, Finally some good news for cycling clubs!  The UK Cycling affiliations have given the go ahead for the resumption of group rides with a max of up to 6 people. All rides that meet this criteria can be sanctioned under our club rides insurance.  We have discussed our approach via email and believe there will be a mix of opinions with some very keen to ride and others not.So our starting point is to gauge interest from you.  The biggest challenge to putting rides on will be having a ride leader for every group of 6. Leaders must receive … Read more…

2020 Prudential Ride London – Surrey 100 (15/16 August)

Hi all, After last years lack of opportunity (some confusing comms you may recall), this year we have been given the heads up again to apply for team places so I have requested the usual 3 team places. One all male, one all female and one mixed (at least one male/female I believe this time round). I have stated that if we are only offered one team place, then it will be a mixed team. Now for the crux of it:  if you want to be considered please let me know by emailing me at steve1clare@gmail.com by 24th March stating whether … Read more…

Road Rides Cancelled – Sat 15th Feb

Hi All, It will be no surprise that we are cancelling all road rides for tomorrow (Saturday 15th Feb), the weather forecast is leaving no doubt that group riding on the road will be too risky. So putting the message out now so you can make other plans. Such as dusting off your MTB and go off roading, (away from trees naturally!).

Potentially a 12 -16 Christmas Road Ride – Saturday 21st December

Well as the somewhat iffy forecast makes it is likely to be one of those days when our numbers will be low, makes sense to expect a combined ride. Hence the heading! Should numbers be better than indicated via our FB page, then we will have an impromptu re jig in the morning. Whatever…… my plan is to do this route at whatever pace we mutually agree. Though it won’t be suitable for Leisure Paced riders. It will leave at the normal 09.00 from Coypool. Coypool – Leigham – Yelverton (Via Green Lane so not long on the A386!) – … Read more…

YOGi eBike Policy

As the growth of eBike use continues it is binging the sport of cycling to those who otherwise may not be able, to ride as well as becoming more and more attractive to those who simply want to enjoy a different ride.  As a club we applaud this but at the same time appreciate the need for guidelines and a policy. This policy should be read in conjunction with our standard ride guidelines and our club ‘Rides Ethos’, all available on this YOGi Cycling Website.  These are in place to clarify required behaviour of all members and guests on club rides.  The aim … Read more…

Christmas Festive MTB and Road Rides – Saturday 21st December

Hi All, The Saturday before Christmas is our traditional  pre Festive Rides day and so will end with a social meet at the Burrator Inn.  Great if you decorate your bike and/or wear your Christmas Jumpers/Santa hats.  Nothing is booked other than the staff advised we estimate numbers of circa 35 – 40 in number. You can park there in the morning if you prefer to join your ride choice here. Volunteer ride leaders are asked to ensure rides pass the Burrator Inn early on to enable anyone who prefers to do so, to drop off dry/warm clothes.  Rides will … Read more…

Leisure Ride – Saturday 8th June 2019

With fingers firmly crossed for a somewhat better morning than currently forecast, we will head to Burrator via some quiet country lanes and then on to Long Ash for the obligatory (and enjoyable:)) social chit chat, coffee and cake. Route is basically Leigham, Green Lane, Crapstone, Dousland, Burrator lap, Walkhampton, Horrabridge, Pound, Long Ash (Coffee and Cake), Crapstone, Home. Circa 30 miles.

Saturday 1st June – Mountain Bike Ride for Roadies (and yep even MTBers)

Mountain Bike Ride for Roadies (and yep even MTBers)😄 Thought time for another one, so meet as usual at Coypool for 09:00.  This ride will be aimed at those who are not necessarily regular MTBers but fancy a change.  So if you are one of those with an MTB in the garage gathering dust, get some air in your tyres and give it a go.  Route and pace will be such that anyone who turns up will enjoy.   We will agree in the morning but choice will be either Double Waters via the stunning Walkham Valley, or if it … Read more…

Saturday Leisure Ride -20th April

Hi All. Got to be the perfect time to visit the sea side what with Sunshine, warmth and a hol weekend all combining to make it an obvious choice. Route is Cattewater- Millbay-Torpoint Ferry (approx for 10am ferry)-St John-Millbrook- Maker-Cawsand-Whitsand Bay (cafe stop at the Cliff Top)-Tregantle- Anthony-Torpoint-Home. A perfect route of 35 miles albeit a bit hilly but we will take these at a genuine Leisure pace and keep us in a tight group. As ever looking forward to seeing the usual faces and ideally some less familiar/new ones👍!
